Free Indoor Playground for Preschoolers Opens Dec. 2 in Kingston

URGENT UPDATE: The highly anticipated free indoor playground program for preschoolers returns to the Andy Murphy Neighborhood Center in Kingston, N.Y., on December 2, 2025. This program will provide a warm, safe space for young children to play and socialize during the chilly months, and it is set to open its doors at 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Tuesday and Friday.

Parents and guardians are required to supervise their children at all times. The program caters specifically to toddlers and pre-kindergarteners, and children of all backgrounds are welcome to participate. Parks and Recreation Director Lynsey Timbrouck emphasized the importance of the program, stating,

“This popular program serves as an alternative option for little ones to stay warm while they play and socialize during the colder months.”

No prior registration is necessary for this free drop-in program, making it accessible for families looking for engaging activities. However, attendees should be aware that the program will be canceled if the Kingston City School District announces a two-hour delay or cancels school due to inclement weather.

The indoor playground will take a brief holiday break from December 26, 2025, to January 6, 2026. After this hiatus, the program will resume every Tuesday and Friday until the final session on March 27, 2026.

This initiative is crucial for families seeking alternatives to outdoor play during the winter months. With no registration needed, parents can easily drop in with their children, fostering community interaction and providing an essential outlet for young ones. Don’t miss this opportunity to keep your little ones active and engaged this winter!
