Community Mourns the Loss of Tammy Scott Gill at 55

On November 13, 2025, Tammy Scott Gill passed away peacefully at the age of 55 in Roxie, Mississippi. Born on February 7, 1970, at Natchez Regional Hospital, she was a cherished member of her community, known for her unwavering faith and dedication to her family.

Tammy was a proud graduate of Franklin County High School and later earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in education from Valdosta State University. Her career as a teacher at Apostolic Christian Academy in Tennessee spanned many memorable years, where she inspired countless students with her passion for learning and commitment to education.

A Life of Faith and Family

Her strong Christian faith was evident in her active participation as a devoted online member of the First Apostolic Church in Maryville, Tennessee. This commitment served as a guiding light not only for herself but also for her family, influencing their lives in profound ways.

Tammy’s greatest joy came from spending time with her loved ones. She is survived by her devoted husband, Larry Ogle, and her cherished parents, Wayne and Jo Lynn Scott. Her family also includes siblings Brandy (Justin) Montpelier, Jason (Trish) Scott, and Genia (Bryan) Baumgardner, as well as her children: Alex (Anna) Gill, Samantha (Brandon) Johnson, Miranda (Anthony) Cotten, and Tyler (Elizabeth) Gill. Additionally, she was a loving stepmother to Denny (Ericka) Johnson and Heath (Renee) Johnson.

Tammy’s legacy will live on through her many grandchildren: Bailynn, Bentley, Knox, Nolan, Colton, Cayson, Ella, Emma, Brayden, Will, Katie, Keeley, Lex, Ericka, Gab, and Ivy Grace, along with a host of beloved nieces and nephews.

Funeral Arrangements

Funeral services will be handled by Laird Funeral Home in Natchez. A graveside service and interment will take place at Greendale Cemetery in Roxie on November 18, 2025, at 13:30, officiated by Rev. Curtis Thornton. Serving as pallbearers will be Alex Gill, Colton Gill, Brandon Johnson, Knox Johnson, Anthony Cotten, and Bentley Cotten, with Nolan Johnson and Cayson Gill serving as honorary pallbearers.
