UPDATE: A tragic three-vehicle crash in Henry Clay Township, Fayette County has left three people dead and five others hospitalized following an incident on October 23, 2023. The collision occurred around 5:30 p.m. on Route 40 near Dark Hollow Road, and details are still emerging.
Authorities report that a tractor-trailer was traveling eastbound on Route 40 when it veered into the westbound lanes, colliding head-on with a Ford pickup truck. The violence of the impact was compounded when the pickup truck subsequently struck a Chevrolet express van head-on. The drivers of both the tractor-trailer and the Ford pickup truck were pronounced dead at the scene, along with a front-seat passenger in the van.
Emergency responders rushed five occupants of the van, including its driver, to local hospitals for evaluation and treatment. Their conditions have not yet been disclosed, and the community anxiously awaits updates on their well-being.
