Jim Carrey and Taylor Momsen Reunite After 25 Years at Ceremony

In a nostalgic moment for fans of holiday cinema, Jim Carrey and Taylor Momsen reunited on Saturday at the 2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony. This marked their first meeting since they starred together in the beloved film “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” 25 years ago.

The actors posed for photos on the red carpet at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles before the ceremony. Momsen, now 32, donned a stylish black dress with lace accents and a leg slit, complemented by a black leather coat and calf-high boots. Carrey, 63, opted for a more casual look, wearing a black graphic T-shirt paired with a black-and-white striped blazer and dress pants.

“We haven’t seen each other since the Grinch. Twenty-five!” Momsen shared with reporters, expressing her excitement at the unexpected reunion. Both stars attended the event to celebrate the induction of Soundgarden into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Carrey delivered a heartfelt tribute to the band, recalling his role as host of a 1996 episode of “Saturday Night Live” when Soundgarden performed as the musical guest.

Momsen also contributed to the evening’s festivities by performing “Rusty Cage” and “Black Hole Sun” alongside notable artists including Brandi Carlile, Mike McCready from Pearl Jam, and Jerry Cantrell of Alice in Chains. Reflecting on her past experiences, she noted that her band, Pretty Reckless, opened for Soundgarden’s final tour before the tragic passing of Chris Cornell in 2017.

Momsen was only 7 years old when she portrayed Cindy Lou Who in the 2000 holiday classic. Recently, in an appearance on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast, she recounted her initial encounter with Carrey, who was heavily made up as the Grinch. “Jim Carrey is the Grinch,” she remarked, adding, “So I didn’t know who Jim was until the premiere and someone had to point him out to me and go, ‘That’s Jim,’ and I went, ‘Oh, Jim.’”

Despite the Grinch’s intimidating appearance, Momsen revealed that Carrey never frightened her. “He was never scary to me. To me, he was always Jim, and he was always in makeup,” she explained.

As part of the celebrations, “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” will return to select theaters on December 12, 2025, for a limited time to celebrate its 25th anniversary. The film is also available for streaming on Peacock and Prime Video.

This reunion not only highlights a significant moment in cinematic history but also showcases the enduring bond formed between two actors who brought joy to audiences around the world.
