UPDATE: The highly anticipated Capital of Craft Fest kicks off this Saturday, November 11, 2023, from noon to 4:30 p.m. at the Harley-Davidson Festival Grounds in San Diego. This premier event of San Diego Beer Week promises an exciting celebration of the region’s thriving craft beer scene, featuring over 40 local breweries and an array of food vendors.
The San Diego Brewers Guild proudly represents a city that boasts more than 150 breweries, earning it the nickname the Capital of Craft. This year’s festival, formerly known as the Brewer’s Guild Fest, is expected to draw a crowd of over 1,200 attendees, significantly increasing from last year’s cap of 400-500.
“Changing the name to the Capital of Craft Beer Fest reflects what San Diego is known for,” said event promoter Kevin Hellman. The festival will take place in a newly expanded venue, allowing for a larger capacity and enhanced facilities, including an upgraded stage and sound system.
Attendees can enjoy unlimited 20-ounce craft beer samples from renowned local breweries including Stone Brewing, Alesmith Brewing, and Ballast Point. In addition to craft beer, festival-goers will savor delicious offerings from food vendors like Full Belly BBQ and Doggos Gus, known for their bacon-wrapped hot dogs.
Live entertainment will feature popular ‘80s band Flash Pants, who gained fame by winning the revival of the ‘Gong Show’ in 2017, alongside DJ Twon Burgundy, named after the iconic film set in San Diego, Anchorman.
Beyond just enjoying craft beer, Hellman emphasizes the festival’s commitment to supporting local brewers. “All vendors are San Diego Brewers Guild members, promoting the local craft beer scene,” he stated.
