Marjorie Sack Hobday, 95, Passes Away Surrounded by Family

URGENT UPDATE: Marjorie Sack Hobday, a beloved figure in Burnt Hills, NY, has passed away at the age of 95. She died peacefully at her home on October 30, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Marjorie was born on April 8, 1930, in Niskayuna, NY, and was the cherished daughter of Kenneth Palmer and Florence Louise Sack. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 53 years, Richard G. Hobday, and her brothers, Gordon and Kenneth Sack.

Her lifelong passion for music defined her legacy. Marjorie and Richard were active participants in numerous musical groups, including the Schenectady Choral Society and the Burnt Hills Oratorio Society, where they shared their vocal talents and love for music.

Growing up during the Great Depression, Marjorie showcased creativity and resourcefulness, often crafting and gardening to create beauty around her. The couple spent summer days at their cherished camp on the Sacandaga Reservoir, a place filled with joyful memories of wildlife and outdoor adventures.

Marjorie is survived by her son, Gordon Hobday (Carol), daughters Wendy Haugh (Charles) and JoAnn Massad (Richard), along with several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be remembered for her grace and the harmonious spirit she brought to her community.

A Mass honoring Marjorie’s life will take place on November 6, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Episcopal Church, located at 85 Lake Hill Rd, Burnt Hills, NY. Following the service, a reception will be held in the church hall, welcoming all who wish to celebrate her life.
