Epiphone Launches Masterbilt Models for Guitar Legends Archer and Arthurs

Epiphone has introduced two new artist models, the Masterbilt Gem Archer Sheraton and the Bonehead Riviera, celebrating the legacy of two prominent guitarists, Gem Archer and Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs. The announcement comes as both musicians prepare for their performances in 2025, a year that promises significant live music events.

Gem Archer, best known for his work with the iconic band Oasis, shared his personal connection to the Sheraton guitar. “The Epiphone Sheraton first came into my world when I borrowed Noel’s for Oasis tours and recording,” Archer reflected. He emphasized the instrument’s distinct sound, stating, “It’s got a ring and a clang to it, with loads of definition and clarity that I haven’t found in any other model.” The Masterbilt Gem Archer Sheraton is designed based on Archer’s fondness for the original model, which he still plays regularly.

The Sheraton is an original Epiphone design, first launched in 1958. The new Masterbilt version features a semi-hollowbody construction made of five-ply layered maple and poplar, enhanced with a maple centerblock for improved sustain and feedback resistance. The guitar includes high-quality components such as USA-made Gibson Mini Humbucker pickups, ensuring a professional sound for both stage and studio settings.

Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs also expressed excitement over the launch of the Bonehead Riviera, a guitar he has long cherished. “Epiphone Rivieras have been with me from the early rehearsals at the Boardwalk in Manchester all the way up to those historic shows at Knebworth,” he said. Arthurs continues to use his original 1984 model during the Oasis 2025 tour, making the release of this new model particularly significant for him. “It plays great and sounds massive; you’re gonna love it,” he added.

Lee Bartram, Head of Commercial and Marketing EMEA at Gibson, underscored the importance of these launches in the context of live music’s resurgence in 2025. “This is turning out to be quite the year for live music, and we’re thrilled to play a small part in paying tribute to one of the greatest reunions of the 21st century,” he remarked. Bartram recalled seeing Archer perform with his Cherry Red Epiphone Sheraton during a memorable show in Manchester on July 2, 2005.

The Masterbilt Gem Archer Sheraton showcases the highest standards of Epiphone craftsmanship. Its elegant design features a one-piece mahogany neck with a comfortable 60s C profile, topped with a rosewood fretboard adorned with mother-of-pearl block and abalone triangle inlays. The guitar is available in both right- and left-handed versions, ensuring accessibility for all players.

To maintain its premium quality, the Masterbilt Sheraton comes equipped with smooth-turning Grover® Rotomatic® tuning machines and a Graph Tech® nut, which helps keep the instrument in tune during performances. The overall aesthetic is enhanced by a Vintage Gloss finish and gold hardware, making it as visually stunning as it is musically proficient.

Both the Masterbilt Gem Archer Sheraton and the Bonehead Riviera come in hardshell cases, providing protection for musicians on the road. The introduction of these models not only highlights Epiphone’s commitment to quality but also celebrates the enduring legacy of two influential guitarists in the rock music scene.

As Archer and Arthurs prepare for their upcoming performances, the excitement surrounding these new instruments adds another layer to their storied careers, promising fans an unforgettable musical experience in 2025.
