Among the nominees are five incredible athletes, showcasing their skills in volleyball, field hockey, and track. Here’s how they performed:
Nominees for Athlete of the Week
Mara Boullion, Ann Arbor Pioneer, Field Hockey: This freshman goalkeeper was instrumental in leading her team to its first-ever MHSAA field hockey state title. Boullion recorded four saves in both the quarterfinal and semifinal matches and made an impressive 10 saves during the championship game, ensuring a triumphant 2-0 victory over the Dreadnaughts.
Sarah Giroux, Flat Rock, Volleyball: Giroux propelled the Rams to victory in seven out of eight games last week, including a pivotal win over Monroe St. Mary’s Catholic Central, clinching the team’s first Huron League title on October 22. She racked up 97 kills, 40 digs, 13 aces, and five blocks throughout the week, showcasing her dominance on the court.
Annie Hrabovsky, Romeo, Track and Field: In a remarkable display, Hrabovsky won the individual and team regional titles on October 25, finishing the girls 5K in a blazing time of 17:26.3. Her performance helped the Bulldogs secure the regional championship with a total score of just 19 points.
Kylie Marcinkowski, Dexter, Field Hockey: This junior midfielder led the Dreadnaughts to the championship game against Ann Arbor Pioneer, scoring three goals and taking five shots on goal in her three matches last week.
Bryn Mullins, Port Huron, Volleyball: Mullins played a key role in leading Port Huron to an undefeated league season at 10-0, securing the Macomb Athletic Conference Blue Division title after defeating Chippewa Valley 3-0 on October 22. She contributed one ace, one kill, 15 digs, and four assists in that match.
