Born on October 3, 1963, Pickar was a graduate of East High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts from UMD. Known for his vibrant personality, he was an active member of the Rotary Club and worked at Great Lakes Office Solutions.
John’s death is a significant blow to those who knew him. He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Pickar, and is survived by his mother, Peg Pickar, as well as his siblings: Christine Beck, Bruce (Amber) Pickar, and Andrew (Kate) Pickar. He leaves behind a loving family that includes nieces and nephews: Joshua (Desiree) Butler, Arelle Kauffman, Danyell (Andrew) Cameron, Josie Pickar, Elise Pickar, and Frances Pickar.
John’s faith was a cornerstone of his life. He loved outdoor activities, especially snowmobiling, hunting, and fishing, with cherished memories of spending time with friends during fishing openers. His visits to the deer shack in Finland were particularly meaningful, filled with laughter, games of cribbage, and quiet moments of reflection.
An avid collector, John was a proud member of the Beer Can Collectors of America. His passion for collecting old beer cans and memorabilia was matched only by his ability to make friends wherever he went. Known for his humor and kindness, he had a gift for lighting up any room and genuinely caring for everyone he met.
