UPDATE: A Chester man, Davar Brown, has been sentenced to 90 days of probation after making alarming threats to his workplace. This urgent development comes following a plea deal where Brown was charged with harassment, downgraded from a more serious third-degree misdemeanor.
The incident occurred on August 27, 2023, at ServPro on Lacrue Avenue in Glen Mills. According to Assistant District Attorney Cierra Eckenrode, the initial charge of making terroristic threats was dismissed in a plea negotiated with defense counsel Clinton Johnson.
Witnesses reported that Brown, 29, expressed dissatisfaction with his shift schedule, leading to a heated argument with co-workers. After being escorted out, he infamously declared he would “spray up” the business and claimed to be the only one “packing” at the location, according to statements made to state troopers. He also threatened to shoot two of his colleagues.
This incident follows a tragic event in Chester earlier this year, where a disgruntled employee committed a violent act, killing two people and injuring three others. Such threats resonate deeply within the community and raise serious concerns about workplace safety.
Brown, who has a history of legal issues including prior charges of aggravated assault and making terroristic threats, had his concealed carry permit revoked. Following his arrest on August 31, he was granted bail set at 10% of $50,000, which he posted shortly after on September 3. During the court proceedings, a disorderly conduct charge against him was dismissed.
Before Judge Margaret Amoroso accepted the plea, neither Brown nor his attorney made additional comments. As part of his sentencing, Brown is prohibited from contacting a specific individual and returning to ServPro, and he must also attend anger management classes.
This case underscores the urgent need for heightened awareness and preventive measures in workplaces across the region. As communities reflect on the implications of threats like these, vigilance and support systems become increasingly critical.
Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story as authorities continue to monitor workplace safety across Chester and beyond.
