A beloved family-owned Mexican restaurant in Hudson, Massachusetts, has announced it will close its doors on March 29, 2024, due to the expiration of its lease. Lalo’s Mexican Restaurant, which has served the community for nearly five years, made the announcement through a heartfelt post on its Facebook page.
The decision to close follows the family’s inability to secure a lease renewal or purchase the property. In their message, the owners expressed deep gratitude for the community’s support during their tenure. “This is incredibly difficult for our family to share, because Hudson has meant so much to us over the years,” the post stated. “What started as a small dream for our family turned into something truly special because of all of you.”
Founded by husband-and-wife duo Gerardo Guzman and Vanessa Ceja, the original Lalo’s opened in Marlborough in November 2018. The restaurant quickly became known for its authentic Mexican cuisine, featuring classic dishes like tacos, fajitas, and burritos in a welcoming atmosphere. The owners conveyed their appreciation for the loyal patrons who made Lalo’s a part of their family traditions. “To every guest who chose to dine with us, to our loyal regulars, to the families who made Lalo’s part of their traditions, and to our amazing staff who worked so hard every day, thank you from the bottom of our hearts,” they wrote.
Although the Hudson chapter is ending, the Guzman-Ceja family invites customers to continue visiting their Marlborough location. They are also excited to announce plans for a new establishment, Lalo’s Mexican Kitchen & Bar, set to open in Southborough later this year. “While this chapter in Hudson is coming to an end, we would still love to see you,” the family stated.
As the closing date approaches, the owners encourage the community to visit for one last meal. “We invite everyone to come visit us over the next few weeks so we can share a few more meals, memories, and hugs together before March 29th,” they concluded.
