The Elmsleigh surface and multi-storey car parks will implement a modernized payment solution that utilizes automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) technology. This innovation allows drivers to access the car parks without stopping to collect a physical ticket, enhancing convenience during peak hours.

Located adjacent to the bustling Elmsleigh shopping centre, these car parks are vital for local commerce, with a combined capacity of 835 spaces511 spaces in the multi-storey facility and 324 spaces in the surface area. Local councillors have heralded this move as a significant advancement in improving essential services in the region.

Cllr Malcolm Beecher, chair of the authority’s environment and sustainability committee, stated,

“We are delighted to introduce this smart, ticketless parking solution to the Elmsleigh surface and multi-storey car parks. It’s a major step forward in modernizing local infrastructure and making visits to Staines-upon-Thames smoother and more convenient, particularly during busy periods. And because it’s paperless, it’s more environmentally friendly.”

With the upgraded system, drivers will simply enter their vehicle registration number at payment machines upon exiting, where they can pay using cash or card. Additionally, the popular RingGo app will remain an option for motorists, although extra charges will apply when using this method at the Elmsleigh car parks. This system does not require drivers to input their number plates upon entry, further simplifying the parking process.

This development marks a crucial step towards enhancing the overall experience for visitors in Staines-upon-Thames. Residents and frequent visitors are encouraged to embrace this new technology, which promises to reduce wait times and improve traffic flow in the busy town centre.

As the October 27 launch date approaches, local authorities are urging residents to familiarize themselves with the new system to ensure a smooth transition. Expect more updates as the implementation date nears, and be ready to enjoy a more efficient parking experience in Staines-upon-Thames!
