Community Mourns the Loss of Veteran Richard Dwayne Cobb

Richard Dwayne Cobb, a cherished figure in Kilgore, Texas, passed away on February 6, 2026. He was 76 years old. Cobb’s life was marked by a profound dedication to his family, his community, and his country, leaving a legacy of love and service.

Born on February 25, 1949, in Kilgore, Cobb devoted 24 years to the United States Air Force. His military career was characterized by honor and resilience, reflecting his commitment to the values he upheld. After retiring from the military, he continued to serve his community through active involvement with the Disabled American Veterans (D.A.V.) and the Legion Hall in Kilgore, where he built lasting relationships and made significant contributions.

Cobb’s family was the cornerstone of his life. He is survived by his wife, Norma Jean Cobb, with whom he shared 55 years of marriage. He leaves behind his daughter, Tomasene Elliott, and her husband, John; his son, David “Andy” Cobb, and his wife, Stacie. His legacy extends to his grandchildren: Tammy Hale and her husband, Leon; Thomas Coleman; Tara Coleman; Elaine Cobb; and Kaitlyn Barnett with her husband, Jerry. Additionally, Cobb is survived by his great-grandchildren: Jax Barnett, Emma Hale, Mason Hale, Elija Coleman, Rowan Coleman, and Addlynn Herndon. He was also a devoted companion to his dog, “Trucker.”

Cobb’s passions included fishing and rodeos, particularly bull riding, alongside his unwavering support for the New Orleans Saints. His family remembers him as a man who brought warmth and joy into their lives, creating cherished memories that will endure.

In addition to his immediate family, Cobb is predeceased by his father, Rueben T. Cobb; mother, Letha L. Lala; stepfather, Albert J. Hall; sister, Flora Gene Hall; brother, Raymond O. Cobbs, Sr.; and sister-in-law, Pearl Cobbs.

A Celebration of Life is scheduled for March 6, 2026, at Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore, Texas, starting at 14:00. Family and friends will gather to honor Richard Dwayne Cobb, remembering not only his military service but also the love and joy he imparted to all who knew him.
