Netflix Cancels Season 2 of Indian Élite Remake, Class

Netflix has confirmed the cancellation of Season 2 of its Indian remake of the Spanish series Élite, titled Class. Despite an earlier renewal announcement, cast members’ recent comments and changes in the show’s status on the platform indicate that the second season will not move forward.

The news was initially highlighted by actor Ayesha Kanga, who spoke to Financial Express in October 2025, stating, “It’s only bad news,” and confirmed that “it’s not happening.” Another cast member, Gurfateh Pirzada, further substantiated the cancellation with an Instagram post on February 6, 2026, expressing disappointment: “Unfortunately, we could not give you another season because life usually has other plans.”

Background on Class

Netflix introduced Class as a Hindi adaptation of Élite in late September 2022. The original Spanish series, which aired for eight seasons and comprised 64 episodes, gained immense popularity. The Indian adaptation premiered on February 3, 2023, and followed the lives of three working-class students at a private high school catering to affluent families. It briefly appeared in Netflix’s global Top 10 Non-English Series for one week and enjoyed notable success in India, remaining in the Top 10 for seven weeks, as well as five weeks in both Bangladesh and Pakistan.

On March 6, 2023, Netflix announced plans for a second season, part of a larger set of renewals for its Indian content. Reports from Times of India in September 2024 suggested that filming for Season 2 would commence “in the coming months,” yet producers provided no subsequent updates on the project.

Cancellation Details

In a Reddit AMA, actress Anjali Sivaraman shared her close relationships with co-stars but did not address inquiries about the future of the show. Gurfateh Pirzada revealed that he learned of the cancellation in the last week of 2024, adding, “I came down with a high fever and thought not again…not another one of my projects getting shelved.”

Despite the cancellation, Netflix has not released an official statement. The company has also removed the label “It’s Official: Another Season is Coming” from the catalog listing for Class, further confirming the show’s status.

Originally reported by Anubhav Chaudhry on ComingSoon.net, the cancellation of Class highlights the unpredictable nature of content production in the streaming industry. As audiences continue to seek diverse narratives, the fate of adaptations remains uncertain, impacting both fans and the creative teams involved.
