Icy Conditions Cause Multiple Crashes on I-70 in Huber Heights

URGENT UPDATE: Icy conditions have led to multiple crashes on Interstate 70 East in Huber Heights, prompting police to urge drivers to exercise extreme caution. The first incident occurred just before 6 a.m. this morning, resulting in a rollover crash near the Ohio 4 southbound ramp.

According to police, a vehicle lost control on the icy ramp, causing it to overturn. Huber Heights police Sgt. Joshua Fosnight confirmed that a man and two women were inside the vehicle at the time. Fortunately, they were able to exit the vehicle and were conversing with police upon their arrival. The man and one woman were subsequently transported to Miami Valley Hospital for minor injuries.

A second crash was reported at 7:28 a.m. at the same location, though no injuries were reported from this incident. Huber Heights authorities are actively working with the Ohio Department of Transportation to treat the area for hazardous icy conditions.

Sgt. Fosnight emphasized the seriousness of the situation: “We are encouraging everyone taking that exit to use extreme caution, slow way down, or find an alternate route for their commute this morning.”

Daytime temperatures in the Miami Valley have risen above freezing today, but with overnight lows still hovering in the 20s, any melted snow can quickly refreeze. Motorists are advised to remain vigilant, particularly during night and early morning hours when roads are most likely to be slick.
