URGENT UPDATE: A 36-year-old man from Jasper, identified as Deni Dedic, has been charged with multiple offenses following a violent home invasion on January 16, 2023. Authorities confirm he faces serious charges, including first-degree burglary and first-degree property damage, alongside a misdemeanor for domestic assault.
The incident unfolded early in the day when Rock County law enforcement responded to a reported break-in at a residence in Jasper. By the time sheriff’s deputies arrived, Pipestone police were already on the scene assessing the damage. Officers discovered significant destruction, including dents in a steel garage door, a missing door handle, and a shattered sliding glass door at the back of the home.
Eyewitness accounts reveal that Dedic attempted to breach the garage before resorting to driving his vehicle through the back fence, ultimately breaking the glass door. The victim reported receiving a concerning text from Dedic just before the incident, stating, “I cannot do this anymore.” This alarming message has raised further concerns regarding his mental state at the time.
Dedic voluntarily turned himself in at the Pipestone County Sheriff’s Office later that day. He is currently detained at the Nobles County Jail and is scheduled to appear in court on March 23 at Rock County Fifth District Court.
