Community Mourns the Loss of Gordon L. Grant, 73, in Greenfield

Gordon Lloyed Grant passed away peacefully at his home in Greenfield, Massachusetts, on February 9, 2024, at the age of 73. Born on February 1, 1950, in Cavite, Philippines, Gordon was the son of Margaret Campbell and Lloyde Grant, who was stationed there at the time. He leaves behind a loving family, including his wife Bonny, sons Evan (and wife, Pam) and Jesse (and fiancée, Emily), along with granddaughters Miriam and Simone, brothers Bruce, Roger, Dan, and Pete, and sisters-in-law Maryanne and Joan.

Gordon dedicated his professional life to information technology, starting in Manhattan before transitioning to various educational institutions in Vermont. Throughout his career, he was known for his quiet acts of kindness, often leaving small tokens of appreciation for those around him, from musicians to caregivers. His thoughtful nature extended to his love for nature, as he collected stones, valuing their unique beauty.

A beloved husband and father, Gordon’s quick wit and clever phrases brought joy to his family, especially throughout his 54 years of marriage to Bonny. He had a passion for music, photography, and spending time outdoors, whether it was hiking in the woods or enjoying the company of dogs and birds. Those who knew him will remember him for his compassion and the positive impact he had on their lives.

Funeral Arrangements and Tributes

A funeral service in memory of Gordon will take place at the Greenfield Hebrew Cemetery on February 11, 2026, at 11:00 AM. Rabbi Simcha Halpert-Hanson of Temple Israel in Greenfield will officiate the service. Following the funeral, the Grant family will sit Shivah from February 11 to February 13, from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM, at their home located at 62 Cleveland Street, Greenfield, MA.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to organizations that reflect Gordon’s values, including Doctors Without Borders, NAMI, ACLU, or the Western Massachusetts Food Bank. McCarthy Funeral Homes of Greenfield and Turners Falls, MA, are entrusted with the arrangements for Gordon’s care.
