Melba M. Bronson, a cherished resident of Coleman, Florida, passed away on January 20, 2026, at the age of 86. Born on November 27, 1939, Melba was a lifelong member of the community and an integral part of the local church, the First Baptist Church of Oxford.
Throughout her life, Melba demonstrated a remarkable devotion to her family and friends, earning the endearing title of “Memaw” among her loved ones. She is remembered for her nurturing spirit and the love she poured into her family. Melba often spent her days crocheting, gardening, and enjoying nature from her rocking chair, embodying a serene and joyful lifestyle.
In addition to her passion for gardening and crafts, Melba was a skilled carpenter. She took pride in building chicken coops, sheds, and porches, showcasing her versatility and hands-on approach to life. Her artistic talents extended beyond her work with wood; she also had a deep appreciation for the outdoors, often feeding birds and tending to her garden.
Melba’s passing leaves a significant void in the hearts of her family and friends. She is survived by her granddaughters: Jennifer Mower, Shannon Hunt, Stacey King, Ashley Fort, Kayla Brindac, and Haley Sapp, along with 13 great-grandchildren. Her legacy will live on through the memories shared by those she touched.
Melba is preceded in death by her husband, Richard Mathis, who passed away in 1987, her daughters Anita Tipton, Deena Bronson, and Tammy Hunt, as well as her ten siblings and both parents, Jasper and Edna Bronson. The family also mourns the loss of one great-grandchild.
