Beloved Community Member John Matwijcow III Passes Away at 59

BREAKING: John Joseph Matwijcow III, a cherished resident of The Villages, Florida, has passed away peacefully at the age of 59 on January 5, 2026. His passing marks a profound loss for family, friends, and the community who knew him for his gentle spirit and vibrant personality.

Born on January 16, 1966, in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, John was raised in South Plainfield before living in various locations, including Bridgewater, New Jersey, and Nazareth and Saylorsburg, Pennsylvania. Most recently, he relocated to Florida in January 2025, where he embraced the warmth of his new home.

John’s life was marked by his dedication to helping others and his love for community engagement. He was a proud participant in the Special Olympics, showcasing his enthusiasm and determination. Additionally, he was involved with THE ARC, a service that supports individuals with developmental disabilities, where he thrived in meaningful daily activities.

John’s passions included a deep appreciation for music, particularly the works of Elvis Presley. He also enjoyed watching television game shows and westerns, and he delighted in creating art through coloring. His love for Italian cuisine, especially his fondness for McDonald’s, often brought joy to those around him.

He is survived by his loving sisters, Kimberly Ann Matwijcow Kopke and Jessica Ann Matwijcow Clark, as well as a network of family and friends who will remember him fondly. John was preceded in death by his beloved parents, John Joseph Matwijcow, Jr. and Patricia Ann Cirigliano Matwijcow, as well as his mentor and brother, Joseph Matika.
