Jewish Nevada hosted its Annual Meeting on January 14, 2025, where the organization announced the appointment of new board chair Lisa Bassewitz and welcomed several new board members. The event took place in Las Vegas and featured keynote speaker Dr. Steven Windmueller, a prominent professor who addressed the audience regarding the current challenges faced by the Jewish community, notably the rising tide of antisemitism.
Community Support and Funding Achievements
During the meeting, Jewish Nevada revealed that its annual campaign garnered a remarkable $4,653,294 from over 2,400 donors. These funds are instrumental in bolstering Jewish life in Nevada, supporting local initiatives, and providing emergency assistance to partners in Israel.
Stefanie Tuzman, President and CEO of Jewish Nevada, expressed gratitude to the community, staff, and board members for their ongoing support. She emphasized the importance of solidarity in the face of increasing antisemitism both locally and globally. “Our community’s strength and resilience have shone the brightest in these dark moments of hardship,” Tuzman stated. “As we look forward to the next year, Jewish Nevada will continue to build up Jewish life, fight against hate, and protect our community.”
Significant Contributions to the Community
Jewish Nevada also highlighted its substantial impact throughout the past year. The organization provided grants of up to $20,000 to local agencies aimed at addressing pressing community needs. These funds facilitated regular food deliveries to those in need, supplied diapers to more than 300 families, organized social events for adults with autism, and offered affordable housing for veterans.
Additionally, Jewish Nevada allocated over $1.7 million to support Jewish preschools, day schools, summer camps, synagogues, and various social services. The organization runs programs designed to care for the sick and elderly, educate youth, and combat antisemitism. This extensive range of initiatives underscores Jewish Nevada’s commitment to fostering a vibrant and supportive community.
