Kwik Star has officially opened its latest location in Knoxville, with President and CEO Scott Zietlow in attendance for the grand opening ceremony on January 8, 2024. The new store, which held its ribbon-cutting event on January 10, introduces a variety of offerings including hot food, grocery items, fresh produce, and bakery goods. In addition to these products, the store features twenty fueling stations and a car wash.
Vertical Integration and Quality Control
During the ribbon-cutting ceremony, Zietlow emphasized the company’s commitment to quality and efficiency. He explained that a key differentiator for Kwik Star is its ability to supply its own products, allowing for greater control over its delivery system. “We carry national brands for sure, but we have many of our own brands. With all the production that we do, that makes a huge difference for us,” Zietlow stated in an interview with local media outlet KNIA/KRLS.
He further elaborated on the advantages of vertical integration, noting that many competitors rely on third-party delivery services, which can hinder frequency and reliability. “This value chain we create is very significant and very important; most can’t do that or they can’t deliver on a daily basis, and that makes a big difference,” he added.
Community Engagement and Contributions
In addition to the store’s opening, Kwik Star made a notable contribution to the local community by donating $1,000 to both the Knoxville Fire Department and the Knoxville Police Department. This gesture reflects the company’s commitment to supporting local services and fostering community relationships.
The new Kwik Star location aims to enhance convenience and provide a wide range of products for Knoxville residents. With its focus on quality, local engagement, and efficient supply chain management, the store is poised to become a valuable addition to the community.
