Valley City High School Democrats Launch Inaugural Meeting

The Valley City Area High School Democrats of America (HSDA) is set to hold its inaugural meeting on January 23, 2024, at 17:00 in the Norway Room of the student center at Valley City State University, located at 230 Viking Drive. This gathering aims to introduce local students to the group’s objectives, including policy discussions and procedures for establishing the chapter.

The meeting will provide an overview of the HSDA’s operations and explore how the local chapter can contribute positively to the community. High school students from surrounding areas without a local chapter are invited to participate, creating an inclusive environment for all interested in civic engagement.

Empowering Young Voices

Students interested in organizing protests, supporting political candidates, volunteering, or engaging on social media are encouraged to attend. Carter Hass, a senior at Valley City High School and the founder of the Valley City Area HSDA chapter, emphasized the importance of providing a platform for the voices of Generation Z. “It is crucial for our generation to have a venue to express our concerns and create solutions,” he stated.

The HSDA serves as a conduit for high school students to enact peaceful and meaningful civic change. “Regardless of your political views, you are welcome to join us,” Hass added, highlighting the chapter’s commitment to supporting the next generation. Members of the press are also invited to attend, fostering transparency and community engagement.

A Call for Unity and Action

Hass further remarked on the need for unity among young people, stating, “Our generation needs serious unity, and this is the best way to unite. It is truly a blessing to be part of the HSDA and make our young voices heard.” He described political organizing as a form of patriotism that allows youth to contribute meaningfully to society.

The Valley City Area HSDA’s first meeting represents an exciting opportunity for local students to engage in political discourse and community service, reinforcing the idea that young voices can drive change. This initiative not only aims to empower students but also seeks to inspire a sense of responsibility and involvement in the democratic process.
