Remembering John Davidson: A Life Filled with Family and Adventure

John Wayne Davidson, a beloved figure known for his dedication to family and community, passed away recently, leaving an indelible mark on those who knew him. Born in San Pedro to Cleo and John Davidson, he was the eldest of three brothers and enjoyed a childhood filled with camping and fishing adventures alongside his family.

Davidson attended White Point, Dana, and San Pedro High School, where he not only excelled academically but also participated actively in sports, particularly as a member of the swim team. His passion for life was exemplified by his love for his Volkswagen Bug and involvement in the Pedro car club. It was during his high school years that he met Laureen Demaria, a relationship that blossomed into a lifelong partnership.

Family Life and Career

John and Laureen graduated together in the class of 1969 and married on October 2, 1971. Their family grew with the birth of their daughter, Kimmy, in 1973. The family often spent weekends at “the river,” where John embraced his love for water sports, including water skiing, jet skiing, and parasailing. Fishing, however, remained his greatest passion.

In 1977, John joined his father-in-law, Anthony Demaria Sr., at Demaria Electric as one of the first employees. His strong work ethic and intelligence quickly made him a valued member of the team. In 1984, the Davidson family relocated to Bullhead City, Arizona, fulfilling a dream for John, who cherished the opportunity to live on the water.

Service and Legacy

In Bullhead City, John took on the role of firefighter and eventually achieved the rank of Battalion Chief. He also founded Davidson Electric, where he applied his skills to build both a successful business and his own home. Despite his busy schedule, John frequently returned to San Pedro to assist at Demaria Electric, demonstrating his commitment to family and work.

John’s life was also filled with joyous gatherings, particularly the annual “Bullhead Easter Bunny Hop,” where family and friends would come together to celebrate and create lasting memories on the lake. He cherished his family deeply, including Laureen, Kimmy, her husband David Hansen, and his grandchildren, Dalton and Renn. John’s love extended to all who knew him, and he was recognized as a great husband, father, son, brother, and friend.

As friends and family remember John, they celebrate a life well-lived, filled with adventure, love, and unforgettable moments. He leaves behind a legacy that will endure in the hearts of those he touched. In the words of his loved ones, “John, may you catch that Big Bass in the sky.”
