Bobby Cannavale Prioritizes Reptile Show Over Golden Globes

Bobby Cannavale, the acclaimed two-time Emmy Award-winning actor, will not attend the 83rd Golden Globes on January 11, 2024. Instead, he has chosen to spend the day at a reptile expo in his home state of New Jersey. Cannavale’s longtime partner, actress Rose Byrne, will be at the award ceremony, where she is nominated for Best Actress in a Comedy for her role in “If I Had Legs I’d Kick You.”

Byrne, who has been in a relationship with Cannavale since 2012, discussed his absence during an appearance on “The Tonight Show” with host Jimmy Fallon. She shared, “You know what, Bobby can’t come, which is such a bummer. He’s going to a reptile expo in New Jersey.”

The event Cannavale is attending is likely Reptilecon, taking place this weekend at the Super Pet Expo in Edison, New Jersey. Byrne explained that the couple, along with their two sons, Rocco, 9, and Rafael, 8, plan to adopt a bearded dragon, a popular lizard species native to Australia. “This expo is the place where everyone goes, and it was on the same day,” she said. “It would just be such a parent fail if we missed it.”

Byrne’s excitement for the dragon was evident as she added, “I’m on board for the dragon; it’s going to be great. … He’s doing God’s work.”

The Golden Globes will be broadcast live on CBS and Paramount+ from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. at the Beverly Hilton hotel in Beverly Hills, California. In her role in “If I Had Legs I’d Kick You,” Byrne portrays Linda, a psychotherapist navigating personal and professional turmoil, according to IMDb.

She faces competition in her category from several talented actresses, including Amanda Seyfried for “The Testament of Ann Lee,” Chase Infiniti for “One Battle After Another,” Cynthia Erivo for “Wicked: For Good,” Emma Stone for “Bugonia,” and Kate Hudson for “Song Sung Blue.”

While Cannavale may miss the glitz and glamour of Hollywood’s biggest night, his commitment to family and personal interests shines through in his choice to attend the reptile show.
