Fetty Wap, the acclaimed rapper known for hits like “Trap Queen,” has been released from prison but faces stringent conditions as he transitions to home confinement. According to a spokesperson for the U.S. Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP), Fetty Wap was transferred on January 7, 2026, from the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Sandstone in Minnesota to community confinement, a move supervised by the BOP’s Philadelphia Residential Reentry Management Office.
The rapper, born William Junior Maxwell II, is expected to complete his home confinement by November 8, 2026. After this period, he will be subject to five years of strict guidelines. These conditions include regular drug testing and restrictions on opening new bank accounts without prior approval from federal agents. Additionally, he must report his earnings and tax records to the U.S. Probation Department.
Fetty Wap is also prohibited from consuming alcohol or any intoxicants unless prescribed by a licensed physician. The court may require him to participate in an outpatient drug treatment program, which would include regular testing to confirm his adherence to abstinence during and after the program.
The announcement of his release from the low-security facility gained attention on January 8, 2026, following a statement shared by Loren LoRosa from The Breakfast Club. In his message, Fetty Wap expressed gratitude for the support he has received during his incarceration.
“I want to thank my family, friends, and fans for the love, prayers, and continued support—it truly means everything to me,” he stated. He emphasized his commitment to making a positive impact through community initiatives aimed at supporting at-risk youth. Fetty Wap’s focus includes expanding access to education, early technology skills, and vision care for children.
The rapper was sentenced to six years in prison for federal drug trafficking charges in 2023, along with five years of supervised release. His release date was previously moved up, with the last adjustment made in November 2025, when he was initially slated for release on December 8, 2026.
As Fetty Wap embarks on this new chapter, the entertainment industry and his fans are watching closely to see how he will navigate these challenges and contribute to his community.
