Wyomissing Police Respond to Surge of Incidents Over Two Days

A series of incidents, including thefts, assaults, and traffic collisions, kept Wyomissing Police occupied on January 6 and January 7, 2026. The department responded to a diverse range of emergency calls over the two-day period, highlighting ongoing public safety concerns within the community.

Early on January 6, police received a report of a stolen vehicle on Park Road North. The vehicle was later located in West Reading by local authorities that same evening. Shortly after, officers attended to two separate incidents on Museum Road involving an individual experiencing a mental health crisis. One person was transported to a hospital, while the other was returned to a nursing facility.

Traffic incidents dominated the police activity throughout January 6. A crash at the intersection of Wayne Avenue and Park Road South resulted in the towing of two vehicles after one allegedly collided with another and a stop sign. Additionally, a hit-and-run was reported on Bern Road, where damage was caused to a vehicle’s front bumper.

Incidents of threats were logged on Cleveland Avenue following a verbal dispute. Police also investigated a suspicious inquiry regarding a credit report on Pinewood Road and a report of stolen property valued at over $650 from a residence on Wyomissing Court.

January 7: Police Handle Early-Morning Calls

The following day opened with multiple early-morning calls. One traffic stop on Route 222 resulted in citations for speeding and unsafe lane changes. Additionally, a 911 hang-up call from Van Reed Road was found to be non-emergency. Later, police were called to Spring Street for a death investigation, prompting the involvement of the coroner. No additional details about the incident were released to the public.

Retail thefts also marked January 7, with incidents reported on State Hill Road and Berkshire Boulevard. One theft involved a cologne tester, while another involved items valued at $175. Police investigated a reported assault on State Hill Road and a fraud complaint concerning washed checks on Woodland Road. A trespassing complaint was also logged, involving a guest who left a location without incident after failing to check out on time.

Multiple motor vehicle crashes were recorded on January 7, including a reportable accident on Fourth Street where one vehicle was towed. A hit-and-run was reported on Route 422, along with another two-vehicle accident that ultimately proved unfounded as officers could not locate the involved vehicles.

Throughout January 6 and January 7, Wyomissing Police handled a total of 36 incidents, with 19 occurring on January 7 alone. Authorities noted the steady stream of calls for service underscores ongoing safety issues within the borough.
