UPDATE: A heartwarming call to action has just been issued by Lakewood resident Karen Schnurstein, inviting pet owners to share their cherished animal stories. This initiative aims to celebrate the bond between humans and their pets, emphasizing the emotional support they provide.
Schnurstein’s own experience with her beloved cat, Willow, has captured the attention of animal lovers across the region. Willow went missing in autumn 2015, leaving Schnurstein distraught after she vanished from their home in Kalamazoo, Michigan. After nearly two years of searching and uncertainty, a miraculous turn of events led to Willow’s return in February 2017.
Details of the story reveal the extraordinary journey of Willow, who was adopted from Kalamazoo Animal Rescue. Initially named by a neighbor as Cinnamon due to her winter coat, she had been living outdoors before being taken to Kalamazoo Animal Services. Thanks to her microchip, which Schnurstein had almost forgotten about, she was reunited with her owner after spending two months waiting for adoption amid barking dogs.
Schnurstein urges others who share their lives with pets to contribute their stories, stating, “When others lose pets, I always suggest bringing another beating heart into their home.” This sentiment resonates deeply, emphasizing the importance of companionship in overcoming loss.
If you have an animal companion you cherish, share your story and a photo to celebrate your bond. Residents of the Greater Cleveland area are encouraged to send submissions to Ann Norman at [email protected].
This is an opportunity to connect with the community and honor the love that pets bring into our lives. Don’t miss out on sharing your unique story that could inspire and uplift others during this time. Act now and be part of this heartfelt initiative!
