BREAKING: Community members are mourning the loss of James D. Styer, who passed away on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at the age of 80. Known for his contributions to the electrical sales industry, Styer’s passing leaves a significant void in Exeter Township and the hearts of his family and friends.
Styer, a lifelong resident of Exeter Township, was the beloved husband of the late Cynthia G. Styer, who succumbed to pancreatic cancer in 2018. Together, they made a lasting impact on their community. He is survived by his children, Andrew J. Styer and Paula Styer, along with their families, including five cherished grandchildren: Evan Styer, Luke Styer, Nathan Styer, Aiden Tobias, and Henry Moyer-Daniels.
Styer was a proud veteran of the United States Army and a graduate of Penn State University. He built a respected career in the electrical sales industry, primarily with Progress Electric Supply and later Colonial Electric Supply, where he dedicated many years of service before retiring.
Visitation will take place on Monday, January 12, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a service at Lutz Funeral Home, Inc., located at 2100 Perkiomen Avenue, Reading, PA 19606. The service begins at 11:00 AM, with interment to follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park, 390 W Neversink Road, Reading, PA 19606.
