Alabama Boy, 4, Found Dead; Father Arrested on Multiple Charges

UPDATE: A tragic discovery has shaken the community of Jasper, Alabama, as authorities confirm the body of 4-year-old Johnathan Everett Boley was found dead on Friday, January 5, 2024. The Walker County Sheriff’s Office reported that Johnathan was last seen on December 31 while visiting his father, Jameson Boley.

Johnathan was reportedly seen walking away with his dog, Buck, around noon on New Year’s Eve. His lifeless body was located approximately two miles from his father’s home, with Buck still alive nearby. Walker County Sheriff Nick Smith stated, “We have located Johnathan, and Johnathan is deceased,” during a gripping press conference.

The circumstances of Johnathan’s death remain unclear, prompting an urgent investigation. A massive search involving volunteers and the FBI commenced shortly after he was reported missing. However, search efforts faced delays due to concerns about possible explosives discovered on Jameson’s property.

Authorities later clarified that while explosives were found during a search of Jameson’s property on Thursday, the devices in the surrounding woods were deemed non-explosive. Jameson Boley has since been taken into custody, with charges including possessing explosive materials and facing two counts of chemical endangerment related to a child.

Johnathan had been living with his mother, who moved to Florida last year, while visiting his father as part of a custody agreement. Sheriff Smith expressed the community’s grief, stating, “Like so many of you across our community, we’re aware and devastated by this news. This is going to be a very hard time for our community.”

As investigations continue, the community is left to grapple with this heartbreaking loss. Authorities have promised to provide updates as more information becomes available. For now, the focus remains on understanding the circumstances surrounding Johnathan’s tragic death and ensuring justice for the family.
