Firehouse Subs Shuts Down Only Annapolis Location Amid Changes

BREAKING: Firehouse Subs has officially closed its only location in Annapolis, a significant move for the popular sandwich chain. The restaurant, located in the Festival at Riva shopping center, has ceased operations as of earlier today.

This closure marks a notable shift for the chain, which is owned by Restaurant Brands International, the parent company of other well-known franchises, including Tim Hortons, Burger King, and Popeyes. While the latter two continue to operate in Annapolis, the absence of Firehouse Subs leaves a gap for local sandwich lovers.

In an official statement, Restaurant Brands International acknowledged the closure, saying, “While the Firehouse Subs restaurant at Festival At Riva has closed its doors, we look forward to continuing to serve guests our delicious hot subs at the nearby Severna Plaza and Waugh Chapel Firehouse Subs restaurants.” The company did not provide further details regarding the reason behind the abrupt closure.

Witnesses reported that when a local reporter visited the site on Wednesday, the restaurant’s kitchen and furniture had already been cleared out. A simple sheet of white paper reading “closed” was the only indication of the sudden shutdown. As of now, the closure has not yet been updated on the Festival at Riva website, where the store is still listed.

This news follows a challenging year for retail in the shopping center, as Party City also shut down its operations earlier this year due to bankruptcy. The impact of these closures on the community is significant, as local businesses face increasing challenges.

In a related note, the Firehouse Subs Foundation had previously made contributions to local law enforcement, donating two protective vests to the Annapolis Police Department in 2019.

As the local dining landscape continues to evolve, residents are left wondering what’s next for the area. For now, those craving Firehouse Subs will need to visit nearby locations to satisfy their appetites.
