Senior linebacker Scooby Williams from Texas A&M University has officially declared for the 2026 NFL Draft. This announcement comes amid a wave of decisions from fellow Aggie seniors, including running back EJ Smith and defensive tackle Albert Regis, who also revealed their intentions to enter the draft within the past 48 hours.
Williams’ journey at Texas A&M has been marked by ups and downs, including a significant injury that limited his participation during the 2025 season. Prior to joining Texas A&M, Williams played three seasons with the Florida Gators, where he recorded 52 tackles, a sack, and two forced fumbles in the 2023 season. His recruitment to College Station was facilitated by Jay Bateman, who served as Texas A&M’s defensive coordinator and linebackers coach before moving to Florida.
Under the guidance of Bateman and head coach Mike Elko, Williams showed notable improvement in his performance. Despite playing through injury in 2024, he managed to accumulate 43 tackles, four pass breakups, and his first career interception. His efforts have not gone unnoticed, as he achieved a strong pass rush grade of 87.3 from Pro Football Focus, alongside a respectable defensive grade of 78.9 in the 2025 season, despite recording only 19 tackles.
Williams, standing at 6’2″ and weighing 230 pounds, has been a critical component of Texas A&M’s defense. His absence in the latter half of the 2025 season is believed to have impacted the team’s run defense significantly. Although he had the option to return for an additional year, his recent development has likely elevated his appeal to NFL teams seeking to refine his skills.
As the draft approaches, Williams’ growing reputation may enhance his prospects, providing a promising future in professional football. Fans and analysts will be closely monitoring his journey as it unfolds. For ongoing coverage of Texas A&M news, follow us on X (formerly Twitter) and like our page on Facebook.
