The Broward County girls bowling scene celebrated a successful season, with multiple teams and individual players receiving accolades at the annual All-County awards held in Deerfield Beach on November 18, 2025. South Plantation High and Coral Springs Charter School stood out, showcasing exceptional talent and teamwork.
Cristina Dixon, a senior at South Plantation High, led the way by placing second at the district tournament with a remarkable 559 series. She finished tied for 21st at the state tournament with a total of 764. Her teammate, Reese Metevia, also a senior, secured fifth place at the district level and ended the state championship ranked 45th with a total score of 692, including a high game of 202.
Another standout from South Plantation was senior Madison Quara, who finished seventh at the district tournament and tied for 47th at the state level with a total score of 689, achieving a high game of 201. Not to be outdone, junior Cameron Thiele from Coral Springs Charter placed third at the district championship, contributing significantly to the team’s overall success as they clinched both the county and district titles. Thiele finished tied for 51st at the state tournament with a total of 685.
Sophomore Faith Tucker, also from Coral Springs Charter, claimed the individual district championship with a series of 534 and finished 32nd at the state championship with a total of 714. Her performance played a crucial role in leading her team to the BCAA championship and the district title.
Top Performers Recognized
The All-County selections also included a second team and honorable mentions, showcasing the depth of talent in Broward County. The second team featured Jazz Chung (Coral Springs Charter), Evelynn Clay (Archbishop McCarthy), Audrey Gold (Coral Springs Charter), Giovanna Gurgel (Coral Springs Charter), and Braydan Smith (South Plantation).
Honorable mentions went to a number of players, including Crystal Carreras and Chanel Escarment from Coral Glades, Aracely Soto from Coral Springs, and several others from Cypress Bay and Stoneman Douglas.
The achievements of these athletes reflect not only their individual skills but also the strong coaching and support from their teams. Jennifer Collins, co-coach of South Plantation, expressed pride in her team’s performance. Under her guidance, the team captured the district championship, placed fifth at the state team qualifier, and advanced to the third round of the baker tournament. Collins stated, “I am extremely proud of the girls this season… Watching them mature into strong, responsible young women has been one of the greatest joys of my coaching career.”
Coaches Celebrated for Their Leadership
Co-coach Greg Mason of Coral Springs Charter also received recognition for his leadership. His team excelled, winning the BCAA championship and the district title while finishing ninth in the state team qualifier and reaching the fifth round of the baker tournament. Mason remarked, “I am proud of how hard the girls worked to accomplish their way to states.”
The accomplishments of the Broward County girls bowling teams illustrate the dedication and talent within the community. As these players and coaches look ahead, they carry with them the memories and experiences from a season filled with remarkable achievements.
