UPDATE: Chagrin Falls police are actively investigating a significant jewelry theft that occurred on December 9, 2023, at 11 a.m. A thief made off with three rings and two jewelry boxes valued at $2,350 from a local business on West Washington Street. Authorities urge anyone with information to come forward immediately.

In a related incident, officers responded to a report of property damage on South Franklin Street. A woman discovered damage to her fence at approximately 8:46 a.m. on December 8, 2023. The cause and extent of that damage remain unclear as police continue to gather details.

Additionally, police executed a traffic stop on East Washington Street following a random vehicle registration check at 3:15 p.m. on December 9. A 55-year-old man from Bainbridge Township was arrested for having an active warrant out of Independence. He was subsequently turned over to Independence authorities.

In a separate case, Chagrin Falls officers assisted Moreland Hills police at 11:44 p.m. on December 9, searching for a 21-year-old man who crashed his vehicle and fled the scene, leaving airbags deployed. A suspected bag of heroin was discovered inside the abandoned car, prompting K-9 officer Max to alert police to the potential drug presence. Despite extensive efforts, including a drone search by Solon police, the individual was not located initially. He later contacted dispatch to report he had been picked up and now faces possible charges from Moreland Hills.
