Serious allegations against Whitehall City Councilman Gerald Dixon have intensified following the emergence of new evidence, including 911 calls and journal entries. The ongoing investigation has raised significant concerns among residents and city officials, as Dixon faces felony charges, including gross sexual imposition and felony prostitution of a minor.
The allegations date back nearly three decades, with reports suggesting a troubling pattern of behavior. According to Whitehall Police Chief Mike Crispen, several 911 calls since 2016 have been documented, with multiple callers reporting children selling water bottles outside Dixon’s residence. These incidents raised safety concerns due to the close proximity to a busy intersection. The police chief indicated that these earlier calls are now integral to the investigation.
A task force consisting of five police investigators is currently collaborating with external agencies to analyze thousands of documents and digital evidence collected from Dixon’s home during the search following his arrest. This includes several laptops and storage devices that may contain crucial information related to the allegations.
Dixon, who spent less than 24 hours in jail before being released on his own recognizance, continues to serve on the City Council despite growing calls for his removal. Local residents have expressed mixed feelings about the councilman. For instance, JoAnn Sanders, a neighbor who has lived nearby for decades, stated, “I’ve never seen anything bad. He stands up for Ward 1. The truth comes out in the end.”
Nevertheless, the gravity of the charges has prompted at least two council members to consider a motion for Dixon’s removal from his position, although no formal decision has been made. The investigation has reportedly seen eight individuals come forward with allegations of victimization by Dixon. However, no additional victims have contacted investigators since his arrest.
The police chief noted, “It seemed benign at first,” regarding the water sales, but as the number of calls increased, it became apparent that some children claimed they were working for Dixon. There is also a bus stop located near his home, adding to the concerns regarding the safety of minors in the area.
Dixon is scheduled to make a court appearance on December 23, 2023. The implications of the investigation and the community response continue to evolve, raising questions about the councilman’s future in local governance and the impact of these allegations on the city’s leadership.
As the situation unfolds, city leaders are under pressure to address the concerns of residents and ensure that proper actions are taken in light of the serious nature of the allegations against Dixon. The community remains on alert as further developments are anticipated.
