Sally Cooper, Beloved Community Leader, Passes at 71

URGENT UPDATE: Sally Cooper, a cherished figure in the Santa Cruz community, has passed away at the age of 71. Born on November 4, 1953, in Long Beach, California, Sally’s legacy of kindness and dedication has left an indelible mark on countless lives.

Sally’s journey began when she moved to Santa Cruz at the age of nine, where she later graduated from Soquel High School in 1971. It was there that she met her husband, Kevin Cooper, with whom she shared an incredible 54 years of marriage. Together, they raised four children: Chris, Brian, Jake, and Amy, and welcomed five beloved grandchildren: Bradley, Troy, Logan, Kendall, and Kenzie.

Her commitment to the community was unwavering. For many years, Sally coached youth soccer and worked diligently for the Soquel School District, inspiring students and families alike with her energy and compassion. Her contributions went beyond the classroom; she was a beacon of hope and support for many in the region.

The community is invited to honor Sally’s memory at a funeral mass scheduled for Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. The service will take place at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, located at 435 Monterey Ave, Capitola. In a heartfelt request, the family has asked that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the SPCA in Sally’s name, reflecting her love for animals and her compassionate spirit.

Sally Cooper’s passing marks a significant loss for Santa Cruz, but her legacy will undoubtedly live on through the many lives she touched. The family encourages those who knew her to come together to celebrate her life and the many contributions she made to the community.
