UPDATE: Boulder Opera Company is kicking off an exciting new season, bringing captivating performances to the community of Boulder, Colorado. The nonprofit, established in 2012, is dedicated to making opera accessible and engaging for audiences of all ages and backgrounds.
The season commenced with a vibrant outdoor event, Opera in the Park, held at the Boulder Bandshell. This celebration featured highlights from some of opera’s most beloved works, setting the stage for a season filled with passion and laughter. Just last month, families were enchanted by Donizetti’s The Elixir of Love, a production that showcased the warmth and humor inherent in opera.
Looking ahead, Boulder Opera Company is set to present Strauss’s Der Rosenkavalier in April 2024. This poignant exploration of love, time, and transformation promises to be a highlight of the season.
The impact of Boulder Opera extends beyond the stage. Hundreds of residents, particularly from underserved Latino and Hispanic communities, have benefited from free concerts, while thousands of students from Title I schools have been introduced to opera through engaging educational programs. These efforts are crucial in cultivating a new generation of opera lovers.
As a nonprofit organization primarily funded by donations, Boulder Opera is currently seeking to raise $12,000 in unrestricted funds. These funds will support artist pay, expand bilingual programming, and enhance community access for future seasons. The message from Boulder Opera is clear: it only takes a little to make a big difference.
