UPDATE: The holiday season is officially kicking off in Pacific Beach with a series of festive events starting as early as December 6! Get ready for a vibrant display of community spirit as the annual Santa Run and Holiday Parade unfold.
On Saturday, December 6, the celebrations commence with Christmas on Crystal Pier from 2-6 p.m. Families can enjoy free photos with Santa, holiday markets, and a stunning tree lighting at sunset. This year’s theme, Candy Coated Holiday Wonderland, promises a delightful experience with wreaths designed by local artists adorning the pier.
The day kicks off with the Holiday Market from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. at 828 Hornblend St., showcasing handmade crafts and local treats.
“The festivities begin with Christmas on Crystal Pier, where Santa will greet families for free photos overlooking the ocean,”
said Sunny Lee, executive director of Discover Pacific Beach.
Pets can also join the fun with free photos at Noah’s Natural Pet Market on December 6 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., with donations benefiting the Frosted Faces Foundation.
The excitement continues with the Santa Run on December 13. Runners can choose from two 5K races at 8 a.m. and 10 a.m., along with a one-mile fun run for kids at 11:30 a.m. and a dog run at noon. Registration includes a festive Santa suit, chip timing, and a complimentary drink ticket, making it a must-attend for holiday enthusiasts.
Right after the Santa Run, the Holiday Parade will take place from 1-3 p.m. along Garnet Avenue, featuring local schools, community groups, and spectacular performances that embody the joyful spirit of Pacific Beach.
“This season is really about bringing our community together and supporting our small businesses,”
added Lee.
These holiday events, sponsored by nonprofit Discover Pacific Beach, aim to foster community engagement and celebrate local businesses. With approximately 1,300 member businesses in the area, these festivities reflect the heart and creativity of Pacific Beach.
